What VietQR is
VietQR is the payment QR standard published by NAPAS, Vietnam’s national payment network. Vietnamese banking apps and several e-wallets can read it. This generator follows that standard, including the checksum banking apps require. The list of 65 banks and wallets comes from VietQR’s public data.
When to prefill the amount
Leave the amount empty for a code at a checkout counter so customers enter it themselves. Prefill it for a specific bill, such as monthly tuition or an online order, so nobody transfers the wrong amount.
Keep the transfer note short and include an order number for reconciliation. Vietnamese accents are removed automatically because many banks reject accented characters in the note.
Staying safe with payment codes
The code holds only the bank code, account number, amount and note. There are no passwords or login details in it.
Static codes have no automatic payment confirmation. Check the incoming transfer in your banking app before handing over goods. In busy places, keep the code where staff can see it so nobody sticks a different code on top.
Frequently asked questions
Can foreign visitors pay with it?
Only with an app that supports VietQR, which mainly means Vietnamese banking apps. Visitors without a Vietnamese account will need another payment method.
Is the account holder’s name in the code?
No, the VietQR standard has no name field. The name you type is printed under the code for reference; the banking app shows the real account name when scanned.
Does it cost anything?
Creating the code is free. Any transfer fees are set by the payer’s bank.
